🌳 Beaudry Provincial Park – Cottonwood & Wild Grape Forest

Just 40 minutes east of Portage la Prairie along the Assiniboine River, Beaudry Provincial Park is a magnificent floodplain forest sheltering some of the largest cottonwood, basswood, and maple trees in the region. The Wild Grape and Elm Trail winds 5.7 km along the south bank of the Assiniboine through lush ferns and tangled wild grapevines, where white-tailed deer, fox, owls, beavers, and even the occasional moose are spotted year-round.

One of North America's most ecologically significant wetlands, the Delta Marsh stretches for kilometres along the south shore of Lake Manitoba near Portage la Prairie. Home to over 280 recorded bird species, this vast marsh of cattails, open water, and sedge meadows is a birdwatcher's paradise. Canoe trails wind through the marsh channels, and the adjacent University of Manitoba Field Station has studied this incredible ecosystem for over a century.
